It’s just a rag…
Have you ever looked at a certain news publication and thought to yourself, “they’re just a [insert your anti-political philosophy here] rag?”
Yup. We all have.
That’s why I just went with it and created PoliticalRag.com.
I’m going to dissect the political developments happening in America. I might say something nice about a politician you hate. I might say something mean about a politician you love. But what I’m not going to do is tell you what to believe. I’m just here to give you my best, nonpartisan analysis and let you decide how you feel. Because that’s what I’ve done throughout 18+ years working in politics.
So, I invite you to read and digest the dregs of this rag. I welcome your comments and meaningful, healthy debate here. If you want to come at me and tell me I’m wrong and that this publication is garbage, I’ll just smile, thank you for reading and remind you that, “Yup…it’s just a rag.”
Who’s this guy?
I’m Mike Sistak. I’ve been involved in politics most of my life. I was that kid senior year of high school asking his classmates if they had registered to vote yet when they turned 18. I’ve worked on Capitol Hill, in state government, and have been involved in political campaigns at just about every level of office you can think of — from the White House to county coroner (yes, there are places where they’re elected). I’ve run legislative advocacy programs and taught campaigns schools to hundreds of candidates around the country.
I study politics — not policy — to discover what makes the world go round. Because as you’ll probably hear me say, politics trumps policy. It doesn't matter how great you think the policies are of a particular candidate or party. If the politics don’t line up then policy matters for nothing.
Do I have my own opinions? Of course I do. Do I vote? Yup. But I give it my honest shot to analyze things in a nonpartisan way, so instead of “here’s what I want…” you get “here’s what is…”
Bottom line — I’m not here to do anyone’s spinning.

I invite you to be part of this community. Add your thoughts in the comments. Tell me if you think I’m wrong. Especially tell me if you think I’m right.
The one thing I ask? Keep it civil. Political discourse is a good thing when we listen to what each other has to say, even if we disagree.
My work
The articles and analysis I provide is my own and reflective of no one’s opinions but my own. I don’t use AI to help me write anything, which is why my English may be (most likely is) flawed.
The only time I use AI is to create the lovable graphics at the top of each article that very obviously distinguishes it as belonging to the Political Rag. Because branding…and reasons…
